​Marseille striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has expressed his preference for Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

​The Gabon international, who admitted that the Frenchman is a close friend, made this known during an interactive Q&A with DAZN.

​Dembélé is the current holder of the Ballon d’Or after winning the 2025 edition of the prestigious award.

He secured the trophy ahead of the likes of Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé.

​Speaking about the 2026 award, Aubameyang admitted he is unsure who will triumph this year.

However, he noted that having shared a dressing room with Dembélé during their time at Borussia Dortmund, they remain friends and he is rooting for him to retain the title.

​He said, “I don’t know [who will lift the next Ballon d’Or], but I would say Dembélé because he is my friend.”

​Aubameyang went on to name the France international as the best player he has ever played with.

He added, “I have played with a lot of good players, but I would say Dembélé.”
