Chelle assures Super Eagles are ready for  World Cup playoff against DR Congo

Super Eagles head coach, Éric Chelle, has expressed the readiness of his team for the crucial World Cup playoff with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo).

​The Malian tactician made this known while speaking with thenff.com ahead of the encounter.

​Nigeria will take on Sebastian Desabre’s side in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African playoffs at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex, Rabat, on Sunday (today).

​A win in the highly anticipated match will see the Super Eagles compete in the Intercontinental Playoff in March 2026.

​This mini-tournament is expected to take place in the two Mexican cities of Guadalajara and Monterrey.

​Speaking ahead of the match against DR Congo, Chelle said the playoff is another opportunity for his team to earn a berth at the World Cup, having missed out on automatic qualification.

​He added that the team is prepared and fired up for the crucial encounter.

​He said, “We would have preferred to have taken the automatic ticket but it didn’t work out. Now, we are here and we have a second chance, and we do not intend to bungle it.”
