AMJON honours Senator Eshilokun-Sanni with Legislative lifetime Achievement Award

The Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) has named Senator Wasiu Eshilokun Sanni, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Marine Transport, as the recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award for Legislative Excellence and Selflessness.
The honour, which celebrates individuals whose contributions have significantly advanced the maritime and legislative landscape in Nigeria, will be formally conferred on Senator Sanni during AMJON’s 2025 Annual Conference and Award Ceremony, scheduled to hold on November 13, 2025, at Apapa, Lagos.
With a public service career spanning over two decades, Senator Sanni has built a reputation for pragmatic leadership, accountability, and commitment to national growth. His legislative focus has been instrumental in strengthening Nigeria’s maritime policy direction and fostering synergy among key maritime institutions.
Before his emergence at the national level, Senator Sanni served as a two-term Executive Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government Area, a three-term Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Lagos Island Constituency, and a two-term Deputy Speaker of the Assembly. Today, he represents Lagos Central Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly.
As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Marine Transport, Senator Sanni has demonstrated a deep understanding of the complexities of Nigeria’s maritime sector. His leadership has brought renewed attention to port efficiency, maritime safety, and coastal infrastructure development priorities that align with AMJON’s advocacy for sustainable maritime governance.
In a statement, AMJON described Senator Sanni as “a legislator whose work bridges governance and grassroots development, ensuring that maritime policies deliver measurable impact for Nigerians.”
