Head coach of the Amazons of Benin Republic, Abdoulaye Ouzerou, has admitted that his team is up for a difficult challenge when they face the Super Falcons of Nigeria in Abeokuta later today.
He made this known ahead of the second leg of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifying fixture between the two West African teams.
Benin Republic lost the first leg of the encounter 2-0 to the multiple African champions last week in Lome, the capital of Togo.

The Amazons must score at least three goals without conceding to qualify for the WAFCON 2026 finals.
Speaking to journalists, Ouzerou said he is aware that the Super Falcons will be out to win on their soil.
He, however, added that despite their opponent’s pedigree, his players are in Nigeria to qualify for next year’s WAFCON.
He said, “When the Super Falcons play, their mindset is to win, that’s what champions do. We know they’ll want to make their fans happy after winning the WAFCON. For us, the target is to keep improving and hopefully qualify for the next WAFCON.”
