Rabiu Kwankwaso, the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) 2023 presidential candidate, has denied insinuations of a rift between him and Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf.
He refuted the rumours recently while featuring as a guest on a BBC Hausa programme.
According to Kwankwaso, contrary to what some politicians were spreading, there is no disagreement between him and Governor Yusuf or top members of his government.
He went on to add that the incumbent governor was chosen based on merit and long-standing loyalty to the Kwankwasiyya movement.
“There is no problem between me and Governor Abba. We gave him the opportunity to perform, and he is doing his best. It is just that some mischievous individuals are trying to create division where there is none,” Kwankwaso said during the interview.
He added, “We carefully examined the options and found him most qualified as far back as 2019. We gave him the chance to deliver, and we continue to support him.
“Those claiming that I control contracts or run the government are only being mischievous. In due time, the truth will come out.”
