Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has said he and his teammates can only make their 2026 FIFA World Cup dream come true if they beat Benin Republic convincingly in Tuesday’s qualifier.
He made this known yesterday during his post-match interview after leading Nigeria to a 2-1 win over Lesotho in Polokwane.
Benin is currently three points ahead of Eric Chelle’s team and two points ahead of South Africa in Group C standings.
However, while speaking after the victory over the Crocodiles of Lesotho, Troost-Ekong said the Super Eagles must beat Benin in Uyo with more than one goal to win their group.

The former Watford defender also described the fixture as an “opportunity” to realize a dream they conceived 9 months ago.
He said, “We want to be at the World Cup, we have said that now for the last nine months.
“We have the opportunity now with the game in Uyo against Benin [Republic], who we know we have to score a certain number of goals.
“It was always the case that we needed to win the game and we had to win it convincingly.”
