Fulham defender, Calvin Bassey has said the Super Eagles can still book their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite their precarious position.

He made this known during a recently
interview with Super Eagles media.

The Super Eagles sit in third position of Group C of CAF’s qualifying fixtures with 11 points.

They are behind joint leaders Benin Republic, and South Africa, who are on 14 points each.

Nigeria will be up against Lesotho in a matchday nine encounter in Polokwane on Friday.

Eric Chelle’s side will then host Benin at home next week Tuesday.

Victory in both games might still not be enough as they will need Benin and South Africa to drop points for them to qualify for the World Cup.

While discussing both fixtures, Bassey said all hope is not lost in the quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

The Premier League defender further  declared that he and his teammates  have enough experience to handle the pressure.

Speaking during the chat he said “to remain calm and do what we have to. I think this is not the first time, club or country, anyone of us have been in a high pressure moment.

He added, “I think we have got an experienced team to handle this situation. It is just about making sure we do everything right.”
