Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju has expressed concern that many past winners of the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality show go broke despite winning a large sum of money.
He made the observation on Monday in a now viral post he shared on his official X page.
His post came barely a day after Opeyemi Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi walked away with a grand prize of N150 million following her emergence as the winner of the 10th edition of the TV reality show.
She was crowned the winner of the “10/10” season after defeating 28 other housemates.

Speaking after Imisi was announced as the winner, Adeyanju questioned whether the organisers of the TV reality show truly pay the winners their prize money.
The activist said, “Do they really give BBNaija winners the prize money? The reason I am asking is because many of them end up looking extremely broke thereafter.”
Adeyanju’s comment elicited mixed reactions from Nigerians who trooped to the comment section of his post.
While some agreed with him, many BBNaija fans challenged him to name a former winner who became poorer after the show.
