England women’s national football team head coach, Sarina Wiegman, has suggested that the absence of Nigerian Afrobeats star, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu better known as Burna Boy from the Ballon d’Or ceremony made the event less colourful.
She made this known on Monday night while receiving her Women’s Coach of the Year award at 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
According to her, there would have been “a little bit of dancing” if the organisers had invited the ‘African Giant’ crooner.

“Let’s celebrate our successes. And if Burna Boy is around, maybe we would do a little bit of dancing too,” Wiegman said amid cheers.
The Dutch tactician had prior to her latest comment listed Burna Boy’s collaborative hit with British pop star, Ed Sheeran, ‘For My Hand’ as her most played song of 2023 on Spotify.
In July 2015, Burna Boy performed at the Three Lionesses’ Euro trophy parade at Beckingham Palace after Wiegman led them to the European title.
