People’s Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Monday disclosed that he visited former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, at his Abuja residence.

The former Vice President made this known in a post he shared on his official X page after their meeting.

Atiku’s visit followed Tambuwal’s release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Tambuwal was recently detained by the anti-graft agency over alleged financial impropriety during his tenure as Sokoto governor.

However, the arrest of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives generated mixed reactions across the country, with opposition party leaders, especially the African Democratic Congress (ADC) saying his detention was politically motivated.

Speaking via his verified social media handle, Atiku revealed he visited Tambuwal and expressed relief over his wellbeing.

He also hailed him for showing a “good, unbroken, and unwavering spirit” despite his incarceration by the EFCC.

He said, “I visited Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal at his residence in Abuja earlier today. I am happy seeing him in good, unbroken, and unwavering spirit.”
