Premier League champions, Liverpool have finally completed the signing of Newcastle striker, Alexander Isak, after an initial stalemate.

The Reds secured the services of the forward for a British transfer record fee of £125m, with sources claiming it could be worth as much as £130m with add-ons.

Announcing the deal via a 37-word statement, the Magpies wrote, “Newcastle United can announce the sale of striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a significant British record transfer fee.”

Isak had a medical on Monday before signing the six-year contract.

The Sweden international joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 and made 109 appearances in all competitions.”

He will wear the No9 after penning a six-year deal at Anfield.

Speaking after completing the deal, Isak said he is proud to sign for the club, adding that he is looking forward to donning their jersey.

“It’s been a long journey to get here.

“But I’m super happy to be a part of this team, this club and everything it stands for. It’s something I’m proud of and I’m really looking forward to it.” the 25-year-old said.

The deal takes Liverpool’s spending to £446m this summer. However, the Reds recouped £228m in sales for a net spend of £218m.
