Pundit and Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher, has said the English Premier League (EPL) champions may not retain their league title this season.
He made this known while analyzing the Reds’ thrilling 4-2 win over Bournemouth on Friday night on Sky Sports.
Liverpool took the lead through Hugo Etikike in the 27th minute after he ran through to calmly slot the ball past Petrovic.
He then turned provider after setting up Cody Gakpo at the start of the second half to double their lead.
Antoine Semenyo, who was racially abused in the first half, then netted a brace, including a stunning solo effort to level the score line.
However, substitute, Federico Chiesa bundled in the Reds’ third goal, before Mohamed Salah ensured Liverpool rapped the game up 4-2 with a late strike.
Speaking after the match, Garragher said he is sure Liverpool will score a lot of goals during the 2025/2026 season.
He, however, doubts the team’s ability to retain the EPL title, saying they are too open at the back.
He said, “Liverpool will score a lot and they will concede a lot too They might be the most entertaining side in the Premier League. But that is not something I hope for, because if they perform like that it will be very difficult for them to retain their crown.
“But for me they are far too open and vulnerable to the counter-attack. There is something that needs fixing.”
