Enugu NSF will provide sports infrastructure, jobs, competitions for majority stakeholders, says Ekweremadu

Enugu State Sports Commissioner Hon. Floyd Ekweremadu has revealed that the 23rd National Sports Festival (NSF) to be held in Enugu State State in 2026 will launch the State into becoming a sports hub for the State and Nigerians in general.
He disclosed this while watching the All Nigeria Athletics Championships and Trials at the weekend in Yaba, Lagos.
Hon. Ekweremadu also revealed he was at the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) organised Championships to equip himself with more knowledge of how to organize, administer and interact with key professional stakeholders in Track and Field as his State will be hosting the 23rd edition of the festival next year in Enugu.
According to him, “Hosting of the Sports Festival goes beyond mere organization, it also entails ensuring that the state benefits from the infrastructure that will be left behind after the competitions”
“The business activities surrounding the festival are expected to be mutually beneficial to the people of Enugu State and Nigeria as a whole.
In terms of funding, Hon. Ekweremadu was optimistic that efforts are underway to source funds from the business community, corporate financial institutions, and stakeholders”
He gave assurance that the Enugu State government will also rally round to ensure availability of funds to host the festival.
He invited Nigerian sports stakeholders to Enugu State to witness the unity and harmony that sports bring to Nigerians, including athletes, officials, businesspeople, government officials, and citizens.
He expressed appreciation to AFN for organizing a spectacular athletics championship that positively impacted all stakeholders.
