Filmmaker Kayode Peters laid to rest in Canada

Filmmaker and television producer, Kayode Peters, has been laid to rest in Canada.
The 49-year-old died on June 28 in Toronto after a battle with an undisclosed illness.
Peters was buried on Saturday, August 2, 2025, after a funeral service attended by close family and friends.
A video making the rounds on social media captured emotional scenes at the burial, with mourners gathered as his body was lowered into the grave.
The service, conducted in line with Christian traditions, was filled with heartfelt tributes and hymns. Guests were seen tearfully singing the popular hymn “It Is Well” during the solemn proceedings.
Peters was widely respected for his work as an actor, producer, and director, with a legacy that spanned television and theatre.
He began his artistic journey with Theatre 15, a University of Lagos-based drama group, before moving into television where he made a lasting impact.
He rose to prominence in 2004 with the creation of the beloved sitcom Flatmates, and later served as executive producer of its modern revival, My Flatmates.
Peters also contributed to other hit shows such as Twilight Zone and Papa Ajasco and Company, leaving behind a body of work that helped shape Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
