Princess Mabel Madojiemu, an Olympian and veteran Nigerian quarter-miler, has commended the Super Falcons for winning their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title, defeating the Lioness 3-2 in Morocco.
Princess Mabel, based in Australia, noted that the Super Falcons’ comeback from a 2-0 deficit to beat the host nation was a notable achievement.
As a member of the Edo State Sports Commission, she stated that this victory reinforces Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.
“I commend the Super Falcons players for making the nation proud once again. We females are proud of the Falcons’ representation of Nigeria.’ ‘Winning this title on Moroccan soil, against the host team, after trailing 2-0, demonstrates the team’s resilience and the fighting spirit of Nigerian Women.” She said.
Madojiemu commended the Falcons’ consistency and brilliance throughout the tournament. They narrowly defeated Zambia’s Copper Queens in the quarter-finals and convincingly beat the defending champions South Africa in the semi-finals before their historic victory over Morocco.
“The Falcons have proven themselves to be not just contenders, but the undisputed queens of African football,” She stated.
Although a former athlete, She urged the female players to remain focused and maintain their winning streak on the global stage, including the upcoming Olympic qualifiers games
