Tinubu mocks opposition again, says it’s sinking ship, coalition of confusion

By Jeffrey Agbo

President Bola Tinubu has taken a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), referring to them as unstable political alliances while encouraging more opposition members to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, Tinubu dismissed the relevance of opposition groups and described switching allegiance to the APC as a wise political decision.

“It’s not a bad idea to abandon a sinking ship and be absent from a coalition of confusion,” Tinubu said.

The President also applauded Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno for crossing over from the PDP to the APC, hailing their decision as timely and strategic.

“With the space that we have created to allow aspiring people to join us, our doors are still open and we should embrace them wholeheartedly,” he added.

Tinubu’s comments came shortly after the party named Professor Nentawe Yiltwada, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, as its new National Chairman. He succeeds Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who stepped down from the role on June 27.
