EFCC arrests 5 Chinese nationals, 4 Nigerians with a trove of mining tools

Five Chinese nationals and four Nigerian men have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged illegal mining of solid minerals in Niger State.

The Chinese nabbed at Kaniyan village in Mokwa Council are Wu Ping, Xu XianLiang, Xu Aimin, Xeu Cihuo, and Liu Changhua; and the four Nigerians – Ibrahim Abdullahi, Sunday Oladele, Destiny John, and Bulus Samuel.

The EFCC listed items recovered from the suspects to include:

  • Power generating sets (Stamford, Inlong, Taiyo, Laison, Senwei SP6800, JMC, Yuchai, Kaishan KSCY-33018, and others)
  • Industrial and small crushing machines
  • A gold melting machine
  • Dumper trucks
  • Pay loaders
  • Water pumping machines
  • A Tacoma truck
  • A Lexus 470 SUV
  • Diesel rubber tanks
  • Welding machines
  • Drilling machines
  • Gas cylinders
  • A laptop computer
  • Chemicals
  • Two cartons of explosives
  • An extractor
  • Swhite-colour detection device
  • Weighing scales
  • Mining safety gear
  • Blasting caps
  • A Super Zandaz water pumping machine

The EFCC said the suspects will be charged to court after concluding investigation.
