Up to 2,030,627 candidates have registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), and attention is now shifted to the sale of Direct Entry (DE) forms, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced in its latest bulletin.

JAMB said UTME registration began on February 3 and closed with 2,030,627 candidates successfully completing their registration, and the sale of DE forms will begin on March 12.

The number of successful registrants does not include candidates who registered to at foreign centres and all are now eligible to participate in the UTME on April 25, it stressed.

JAMB disclosed in its Monday weekly bulletin that 200,115 candidates expressed interest in taking the optional mock UTME set for April 5, and of these, 630 registered for the trial mock examination, which will also take place on the same date.

With the closure of UTME registration, it explained, preparations for the annual examination are now in full swing.

“This year, the Board has implemented several innovative measures to deter cheating and maintain the integrity of the examination process. These measures have already led to multiple arrests of candidates attempting to use forged A-level results for admission, highlighting the effectiveness of the new system designed to detect such fraud,” the bulletin said.

“Candidates are strongly advised to adhere to the examination rules and regulations and refrain from any dishonest practices during the examination.”

JAMB Public Communications Advisor Fabian Benjamin reiterated in the bulletin that registration for DE is crucial for individuals who possess degrees, diplomas, or A-level certificates and wish to advance their education at their preferred universities.

He added: “The initiation of the DE sales follows the successful conclusion of the UTME application sales, which ended on Saturday, March 8, 2025.

“During this period, JAMB recorded 2,030,627 registrations for the 2025 UTME, 200,115 for the Mock-UTME and 630 applications for the trial mock.

“A special committee will verify all submitted A-Level qualifications and any fraudulent results will lead to prosecution.

“Additionally, institutions are encouraged to directly verify certificates before considering admissions. Registration can only be done at JAMB Professional Registration Centres (PRC).”
