Leah Sharibu in Boko Haram captivity for 2,557 days running, advocacy wonders why Tinubu admin is silent on it
Leah Sharibu has been held captive by Boko Haram for 2,557 days running, peace advocacy Para-Mallam Foundation, has reminded President Bola Tinubu, urging him to immediately initiate means of rescuing her and all other victims captured by the terrorists.
The foundation made the plea in Jalingo on Wednesday to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the ordeal of Leah who was kidnapped alongside 119 girls at Government Science and Technology College, Yobe on the 19 February 2018.
Para-Mallam Peace Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Gedion Para Mallam, wondered why the name of Leah has not been mentioned by the Tinubu administration since his assumption of office on 29 May 2023.
“Leah has been in captivity because she refused to deny Jesus; she kept her faith, it is surprising that since the assumption of Bola Tinubu as the President of Nigeria, nobody has mentioned her name, and no government official has made an attempt to let the whole world know about Leah,” he lamented.
“We are calling on President Tinubu, his wife, Olulemi Tinubu, well-meaning Nigerians, the international communities, and even the Boko Haram members to be touched with the Spirit of God to ensure the release of Leah.
“Apart from Leah, there are hundreds of both Muslim and Christian girls that are captured by members of Boko Haram, and they have been there for years. We demand immediate efforts from the government and the armed forces to ensure their immediate rescue.”
