Police arrest two suspects in kidnapping of ex-AIG Odumosu’s wife

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended two suspects allegedly involved in the abduction of Folasade Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police Hakeem Odumosu.
The suspects, identified as 27-year-old Agbojule Smart and 30-year-old Keleke Michael, were arrested on Friday by the Commissioner of Police Special Squad in Lagos.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The statement revealed that two locally fabricated rifles, 11 live cartridges, and ₦2.25 million—part of the ransom payment—were recovered from the suspects.

“The suspects were arrested in the early hours of today, Friday, January 24, 2025, while on their way out of Lagos State,” the statement read. “Upon interrogation, they confessed to their crime; belonging to a gang of four, two of whom have been neutralised previously.”
“Recovered from the suspects upon their arrest was the sum of Two Million, Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N2,250,000), which was part of the requested ransom, 2 locally fabricated rifles, and 11 live cartridges,” the statement added.
Mrs Odumosu was abducted on January 16, 2024, from her residence in Arepo, Ogun State, by four masked men. She was rescued less than a week later in Ikorodu, Lagos, following a gunfight between the kidnappers and police operatives supported by technical intelligence from Force Headquarters.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the operatives for their bravery and urged them to maintain their commitment to reducing crime and ensuring public safety.
