Immigration Service arrests 90 foreigners, begins process of repatriating them back to their countries of origin
Up to 90 foreigners, most of them illegal immigrants, have been arrested in Rivers over alleged cybercrimes perpetrated at different levels to swindle Nigerians.
Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) arrested the suspects in conjunction with other security agencies at their hideout, according to state NIS Comptroller YI Abdulmajeed.
A total 94 were nabbed, he disclosed, and their profile revealed that 85 of them are Cameroonians, five Chadians, and four Nigerians – with 74 of the total males and 20 females.
Abdulmajeed said all the 90 foreigners gained access to Nigeria through unauthorised entry points, and none presented residence cards or any form of travelling documents after interrogation.
According to him, two other Nigerians from Rivers, who provided them with accommodation and have been their landlorda, were also arrested.
He quoted NIS Comptroller General Kemi Nandap as having directed the process begin of repatriating the foreigners back to their countries of origin.
