Arteta speaks on Saka’s injury after Arsenal thrashed Palace 5-1

Arteta also admitted that it was “a very good week” for Arsenal, adding that “It is always weird to play the same opponent twice in three days“

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has disclosed that he took Gunners winger, Bukayo Saka off in the 24th minute of the match against Crystal Palace as “a precaution” measure after he “felt something” on his leg.

Saka collapsed on the pitch, holding his hamstring after attempting to play in a cross during the first half of their 5-1 win at Crystal Palace.

The England star was subsequently  removed and replaced by Leandro Trossard.

The North London club went on to win the derby after a brace from Gabriel Jesus and a goal each from Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli and Declan Rice.

Regarding Saka’s substitution, Arteta told Match of the Day: “He felt something. It is too early to assess him. It was a precaution with him right now.”

He, however, added that the injury will be a big blow to his side if it is a serious one. 

Speaking on the win at Selhurst Park, Arteta added: “A very good week. It is always weird to play the same opponent twice in three days.

“We started well, then conceded, and the team reacted so well. To score five goals away from home in this league is never easy.”
