Tears as late Dowen College student Sylvester Oromoni’s mother dies

Rosemary Oromoni, mother of the late Sylvester Oromoni Jr., has died three years after her son’s tragic demise.
TheNiche learnt she died on November 25, 2024, due to complications from intermittent blood pressure issues.
Her death has left family and friends heartbroken.
Oromoni Jr., a 12-year-old pupil at Dowen College, Lagos, died in November 2021 amid allegations of bullying and assault, a case that sparked national outrage. The prolonged legal battle and emotional toll reportedly took a heavy toll on Mrs. Oromoni’s health.
Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Jaro Egbo, visited the Oromoni family on November 28 to express condolences.

During his visit, Egbo described Mrs. Oromoni’s death as shocking and deeply painful, noting that her presence would have been invaluable to her husband during these challenging times.
In a post shared on Facebook by the Ughelli North Local Government Council, Egbo stated, “On behalf of my immediate family and the good people of Ughelli North Local Government Area, I expressed my heartfelt condolences to my dear brother, friend, and great colleague on the passing of his beloved wife, Mrs. Rosemary Oromoni.”
The family’s loss has been met with an outpouring of grief from the community, as well as renewed sympathy for the tragedies they have endured. Many have highlighted Mrs. Oromoni’s resilience throughout her son’s case, noting her dedication to seeking justice.
