Okeagbe Akoko Community in Akoko North West Local government area of Ondo state is to commence the celebration of its centenary anniversary with the theme “Great Celebration” on Monday December 2, 2024.
The anniversary, a week long events will feature several events, including a centenary documentary, lecture, youth night carnival, cultural displays, award, and the grand finale.
The Coordinator Planning Committee, Bashorun Akinwumi Bada, emphasised the importance of unity and harmony among the four communities in Okeagbe as a foundation for God’s blessings to celebrate the centenary.
Bada urged the people Okeagbe to rededicate themselves to the unity of the community and eliminate anything that threatened it.
“Let me say here that we must rededicate ourselves to the unity of our community and do away with everything that is a threat to her unity,” he said.
However, the Lead, Publicity Committee, Chief Agbaakin Sekoni, expressed joy over the upcoming anniversary, saying that many invited guests including Okeagbe Sons, and daughters both at home and in diaspora are expected to grace the occasion
The programme of the events are, Monday 2nd December. there will be Hearing on Radio, Age Groups dancing and Documentary showcasing, Tuesday 3rd of December, performance by Egungun and Sekere dance, Wednesday 4th December, Medical check up for the citizens, Essay competition and Miss Okeagbe Beauty Pageant contest.
Other events are, Thursday 5th December, Okeagbe Economic summit, Scholarship award and Youth Night carnival, Friday 6th December Award presentation and Football competition, Muslims Faithful with Jummat prayer service at Okeagbe Central Mosque by 2pm.
On Saturday 7th December, the Grand Finale of the Centenary Celebration, there wil be cultural displays by Egungun, Onimole, Olode, Conferment of Tittles by Kabiyesi to deserving visitors, Lunching of N750m Community projects, Cultural displays II by Afa/Oge/Aje/Ido joint cultural group and Invitation of popular musician by 10am while on Sunday 8th December, there wil be thanksgiving service to round up the celebration at St. George’s Anglican Church, Okeagbe
