Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, has said his team fell short of claiming the three points at stake at Portman Road against Ipswich Town because some of his players were “confused”.

The Portuguese tactician took charge of his first Premier League clash on Sunday in the encounter which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Marcus Rashford gave the Red Devils a dream start with a goal within the opening two minutes.

But the hosts levelled the score before the break with a stunning finish from Omari Hutchinson.

Ipswich had chances from Liam Delap to claim a second, but ultimately settled for a score draw.

Speaking after the game, Amorim admitted that players have to be so much better physically to cope with high pressure and volume of high-speed running.

He said: “If you see the first half, you can see that they are a little bit afraid. [Morsy] was always alone. We have to jump on him.

“Hutchinson was always in the dead space, Jonny Evans should be pressing his guy but when we don’t have training and it’s hard to say all the reactions to the players, we had two days so they are confused a little bit.

“We have to look at the data, understand the data and look at that. First, we have to understand the game, we have to be so much better physically to cope with the high pressure, the volume of the high-speed running, all these things but we need time to work on these things.”
