Guardiola explains why he signed new contract with Man City

Guardiola since joining Man City in 2016 has won six Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League trophy and 10 other cups

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has explained why he decided to extend his contract with the Premier League champions.

The Spanish tactician’s deal was set to expire in the summer of June 2025, but he has now agreed fresh terms with the Citizens.

TheNiche gathered that Guadiola’s new deal will run until 2026, with the option for a further year.

Speaking for the first time after signing the contract, the 53-year-old admitted he has “a special feeling” for City.

He also thanked the club’s management, players and supporters for backing him, saying he hopes to win more laurels with them. 

“I have a really special feeling for Man City. That is why I am so happy to be staying for another two more seasons,” Guardiola said.

“Thank you to everyone for continuing to trust and support me.

“Hopefully now we can add more trophies to the ones we have already won.”

Guardiola since joining Man City has won 17 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League.
