Benin Republic head coach, Gernot Rohr, has said the Super Eagles of Nigeria were lucky to claim a score draw against his team.
Both countries played out a 1-1 draw in their penultimate 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier played at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday night.
Mohamed Tijani gave the Beninoise the lead as early as the 16th minute after he headed the ball through the legs of Stanley Nwabali.
But fit again Osimhen, who is currently on loan in Turkey from Serie A club, Napoli, restored parity in the 81st minute for Nigeria.

Reacting to the outcome of the game during his post match conference, Rohr admitted it was a fair result.
He, however, added that the result would have been different had his team taken their chances during the encounter.
He said: “It was a fair result.
“But we were unlucky, because we had the better chances and organization to win the game.
“Nigeria is not a team that is easy to beat. But if we had taken the chances we had with scores at 1-0, maybe the result would have been different.”
