Olayinka argued that Atiku should be the one sacrificing and supporting the presidential ambition of ex-Anambra state gov, Obi in 2027

Lere Olayinka, a media aide to former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has countered a suggestion made by a netizen identified on X as @Mfaarees, who pleaded with Peter Obi to make sacrifices and support Atiku Abubakar to become the president in 2027.

The X user in a now viral post, also urged the Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Obi to accept the Vice Presidential slot and allow Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 presidential candidate, to emerge as the main opposition’s presidential candidate.

He further noted that the former Anambra State Governor and the former Vice President can defeat the forces of tyranny in Nigeria if they are united.

Mfaarees had said: “Peter Obi has what it takes to save this country. If he really cares about Nigerians, he should accept the VP slot with Atiku as President, they’re the only people who can defeat this great force of tyranny.”

Reacting to the tweet, Olayinka disagreed with him, saying it should be the other way round.

He wondered why Atiku cannot make same sacrifice and support Obi’s presidential bid.

“Why can’t @atiku also make sacrifice and support @PeterObi for President?”
Lere tweeted.

This is coming amid the proposed merger talks among top opposition leaders in Nigeria.

But Katchi Ononuju, a chieftain of the PDP, had declared that Obi won’t be a Vice Presidential candidate to Atiku.

Obi left the PDP for the Labour Party shortly before the 2023 general election to actualize his presidential aspiration.
