Senate confirms Tinubu’s seven ministerial nominees

The Senate has confirmed seven new ministerial nominees recently appointed by President Bola Tinubu.
The confirmations came after a hearing held in the Red Chambers of the National Assembly on Wednesday, following last week’s decision by Tinubu to reshuffle his cabinet.
The nominees had earlier been cleared by the Department of State Service (DSS), ahead of their screening today.
Early this week, they besieged the office of the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Senator Basheer Lado, to submit their resumes to beat the deadline.
TheNiche had reported that President Tinubu reshuffled his cabinet, from which he sacked six ministers and named seven new others. The president also swapped the portfolios of 10 other ministers.
Those sacked included Minister of Women Affairs, Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye; Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John; Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman; Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo; and Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim.
The ministerial nominees that were confirmed after screening are Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Labour and Employment; and Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Foreign Affairs – State.
Others are Dr Jumoke Oduwole, Industry, Trade and Development; Idi Muktar Maiha, Livestock Development, Rt Hon Yusuf Abdullahi Ata (Housing – State); and Dr Suwaiba Said Ahmad, Education-State.
