Rotarians host ‘Swing to Doing Good in the World” charity at 1938 Golf Club in Ikoyi

Charity golf kitty “Swing to doing Good in the World” was the theme which Rotarians in Victoria Island East deployed in raising funds for humanitarian services at the Ikoyi 1938 club golf section in Lagos.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the active golf competition among Rotarians, Samuel Nwakohu, Chairman Rotary Foundation Victoria (RC) Island East, said it has been a challenging time for members to come up with innovations that would enable Rotarians ensure the countiuation of services to the public.


According to him, Rotary clubs in many areas do compliment government in providing services such as health care, pipe borne water, borehole and environmental services.

Nwakohu who was past assist governor for decades insisted that Rotary club Island East observed that members are no longer making money available to the club owing to hardship in the country.


In order to mitigate the sad development, “We decided to plan fund raise to enable Rotarians in Victoria Island East carry out their norman humanitarian activities.”

The golf section of Ikoyi club witness over five Rotarian clubs from different districts which collaborated with Rotary club Island East in the fund raise.


Many dignitaries from Rotary club Falomo, Admiralty and District 9112, etc delivered goodwill address as key note address was delivered by major sponsor by Fidelity Bank.


The bank’s Chief Executive Officer Nneka Onyali-Ikpe officially primed for the address was represented by executive director/chief risk taker Mr. Kelvin Ugwuoke who extolled rotarians for their kind hearted approach to humanity in all aspect of life and pledged that the bank will continue to support them in continuation of its humanitarian services.

At the end, successful male and female golfers later got plaques and certificates for their good performance in various categories of golf competition
