Wike said Fubara aided APP in sweeping the chairmanship positions during the just-concluded Rivers’ local government election

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike on Tuesday accused Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara of engaging in anti-party activities during Saturday’s local government election.
He made the allegation while featuring on Channels TV’s programme, Politics Today.
According to him, Fubara aided the Action Peoples Party (APP) to sweep the chairmanship positions during the just-concluded local government election in the state to the detriment of his party, PDP.

The former governor who backed the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu against his Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 general election, however, insisted that he was never involved in anti-party activities.
Speaking during the interview, Wike said: “Today people say discipline Wike because he did anti-party, but I say that I did not do anti-party.
“Today, what happened? The governor sponsored APP and Bala Mohammed was the one who attended the swearing-in of the APP Chairmen.
“I said I wouldn’t support injustice and I have no apology to render to anybody because PDP had agreed on what to do but he refused.”
Prior to Saturday’s local government election, Wike and Fubara have been at loggerheads over control of the political structure in the state.
