Human rights activist and former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani has compared the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, (NNPCL) and Dangote Refinery to Cain in the Bible.

He made the comparison on his X page following the recent war of words between the two organizations over the pricing template of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) otherwise called
petrol.

NNPC on Monday released a breakdown of estimated prices of Petrol from Dangote Refinery in retail stations across the country based on September 2024 pricing.

Despite the refinery’s misgivings about the prices released, the state-owned oil company insisted the price hike was due to what it paid the refinery.

NNPCL also confirmed that it is paid Dangote Refinery in U.S. dollars for the September 2024 PMS offtake.

It maintained that the refinery’s petrol was bought at N898.78 per litre while noting that the estimated cost price of petrol in Lagos, plus logistics, will stand at N950.22 per litre.

It, however, stated that in other locations like Abuja, Sokoto, and Kano states, petrol will be sold at an estimated price of N999.22 per litre.

NNPCL added that fuel pump prices in Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Imo, and other states stand at N980, the highest pump price, obtained in Borno State, is N1,019.22 per litre.

Reacting to the development, Shehu Sani said most Nigerians had thought that NNPCL and Dangote Refinery were like biblical “Cain and Abel.”

He added that it’s now clear to them that both companies are “Cain”.

Speaking via his verified social media handle, the former senator tweeted, “Most people thought that Dangote and NNPC are like Cain and Abel. Now they found out that they are Cain Junior and Cain Senior.”
