CAF hails Lookman after scoring brace, making Ballon d’Or list

(CAF) showered praises on Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman after helping Nigeria to beat West African neighbours, Benin Republic on Saturday.

The Atalanta star scored a brace as  Super Eagles exact revenge on Gernot Rohr’s men in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

His team-mate Victor Osimhen also scored a goal during the match to give Augustine Eguavoen’s side an emphatic 3-0 win and top their group.

Lookman after the intriguing encounter was named Man of the Match.

Prior to this, the Serie A forward had been shortlisted as one of the best 30 players in the world vying for this year’s “Ballon d’Or”. 

Reacting to both feats in a tweet via its X account after the Nigeria vs Benin game, CAF shared a photo of Lookman and captioned it: “What a week Ademola Lookman is having.”
