Human rights activist and former presidential candidate of African Action Congress, (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has said Nigerians must get ready for planned October 1 demonstration tagged ” FearlessInOctober”, which is being organized to protest against the bad policies of the President Bola Tinubu-led government.
He made this known via a post he shared on his X page recently, where he noted that Tinubu’s administration is hurting Nigerians, hence the citizens can revolt at any time they want.
His call comes in the wake of Tuesday’s announcement by Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) that it has increased the pump price of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise called petrol from N617 to N897 per liter
“This is to inform you that NNPC Retail Management has approved upward review of PMS pump price from N617/itre to N897/liter effective today, 3rd September, 2024.
“Please ensure all your pumps and totems (price boards)/MIDs reflect the new PMS price of N897/liter.” the short statement read.

Speaking via his verified social media handle after the increment, Sowore tweeted, “IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please let’s reiterate that nobody needs to wait for October 1, 2024, for #FearlessInOctober; the Tinubu regime is continuing to hurt the people of Nigeria without ceasing.
“Nigerians are at liberty to revolt at any time of their choosing! #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria #RevolutionNow.”
Sowore had earlier called for a second leg of the EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest which held in August, saying the phase two of the demonstration will take place on Nigeria’s Independence Day, October 1st.
According to the AAC chieftain, the protest is a platform for Nigerians to vent out their frustrations against the Federal Government amid the prevailing economic situation in the country.
During the August demonstration which lasted 10 days, Tinubu in a broadcast signified interest to dialogue with organizers of the protest.
