The Labour Party (LP) in Bauchi State pulled a surprise on Saturday when it secured the highest number of votes in the Bogoro councillorship election held in Lusa B Ward of Bogoro Local Government Area, despite not fielding a candidate.

Several media outlets had earlier reported that the Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC), Alhaji Ahmed Makama announced that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured victory in the chairmanship elections in all the 20 local government areas of the state.

Despite PDP’s landslide victory in all the local governments of the state, the LP secured victory in one councillorship election in Bogoro Local Government Area.

However, BSIEC, while announcing the result, declared the candidate of the PDP, Lucy Ahmadu Yusuf, who came in second place, as the winner and the newly elected councillor representing Lusa B Ward.
