Renowned Constitutional Lawyer and Human Rights Activist, Dr Tunji Abayomi has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has spoken commendable well in his broadcast to the Nigerians over the nationwide protest.

According to him, Tinubu’s attention to the concerns of the people is noteworthy and praiseworthy, saying that he has also set out so much that is been done or about to be achieved.

Abayomi, in a statement issued in Akure, the Ondo State capital today noted that the list of the achievements of the government through much effort is impressive. Nigeria will not have enough food by protests or mere declaration by the president.

His words: “The solution to hunger is food just as the solution to lack of food is agricultural production. So our people need to return to the farm land to plant so that they can harvest, produce, and feed themselves.

“In the same manner, the cost of power will go down with increased investment in power generation and distribution, which will only come about when Nigeria is stable not by President’s speech or proclamation.

“As to subsidy removal, it is clearly the most sensible option where there was immediate imminent danger of shortage of money to pay our debts which was consuming 97% of national income. The danger of handing the nation to subsidy oligarchs can also not be underestimated.

“With a commitment to reduce government convenient expenditures and waste as well as in-government corruption we will support the government of the day and encourage it to continue its transformation efforts,” Abayomi added
