“People who surround the government are deceiving him [Tinubu]. They want the government to collapse. The government has not done anything so they should expect the protest, it will stand.

“Nigeria deserves better welfare despite the increment in minimum wage, it’s not an achievement but let this government go after a better achievement that the people will be grateful for” – Ayodele

Elijah Ayodele, primate of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, who “prophesied” in favour of Bola Tinubu throughout the election campaign last year, has recently begun to drum up criticism against him, the latest being his support for the hunger protest which he warned days earlier the President cannot stop.

And journalist/publisher Dele Momodu also warned Tinubu about the difficulties ordinary Nigerians are encountering amid perception his governance style has shifted.

Tinubu should not stop the protest because Nigerians are very bitter about the hardship, Ayodele cautioned in a statement he issued through his Media Aide Oluwatosin Osho.

He insisted the protest will hold but the government should work on mitigating the effects by reducing the prices of essential commodities.

“People are very bitter and they have hatred towards this government. Some states will participate and some will not but definitely there will be protests,” the statement said.

“The government needs all it needs to do; crash the price of food, electricity, petroleum, find solutions to insecurity, regulate prices and others to mitigate the effect of the protest.

“People are in serious hardship but the government doesn’t understand, they need to do something fast because it will be more than an ordinary protest. Nigeria doesn’t need this protest now because there is ‘protest inside protest’ due to pains, hardship, and hunger.

“This government is just assumption-based; it is not a realistic one so it’s difficult to connect with people or understand their pains. The government must adjust, it’s very simple to stop this protest by doing all that is needed. It will be a protest of hunger, pains and reward.

“The government is affecting the rich and poor, there is hardship everywhere but people didn’t expect this.

“People who surround the government are deceiving him [Tinubu]. They want the government to collapse. The government has not done anything so they should expect the protest, it will stand. ‘’

Things very difficult for Nigerians, except the privilegentsia

In his own take on X, Momodu reiterated to Tinubu things have been very difficult for Nigerians, except for a privileged few, since he became President.

His words: “Unfortunately, things have not been easy for Nigerians (except members of the privilegentsia) since you realized your lifelong ambition. And let me be frank Sir. You caused it all. You did not realize that a country is much more complicated than a state.

“I’m sad and embarrassed that a fighter for Democracy is now saying Nigerians will not be allowed to congregate and demonstrate on the streets, something you and I enjoyed during the military regimes, at home and abroad.”

Momodu said he is against anarchy but believes potential threats can be managed without undermining democratic rights, citing his (Momodu’s) involvement in peace initiatives in Sierra Leone, Liberia, and The Gambia.

“Please Sir, go back to your original friends in civil liberties and seek their assistance. Then, use this opportunity to test the strength of your security architecture and the combat readiness of our security agencies.

“Ignore the advice of the hawks in your team. They have nothing to lose since they are mostly beneficiaries of what others died for.”
