The controversy began when a Twitter user accused Abraham of illegally arresting his mother. The filmmaker quickly addressed the allegations, clarifying that she had only reported the incident to the cybercrime unit due to threats against her life and family. Abraham explained that it was the user’s friend, identified as Ayo, who was arrested on charges of bullying and defamation.

In a series of statements, Abraham emphasized that she did not order the arrest of the user’s mother, as claimed. She added that she deleted related tweets after resolving the issue.

The Twitter user alleged that his mother was apprehended at her shop and taken to Panti police station. Abraham maintained her stance, stating she did not initiate any such arrest.

This incident has sparked a broader discussion about online bullying, harassment, and the responsibilities that come with freedom of speech on social media platforms.

One user, Danny, expressed his discontent by tweeting, “Hello @toyin_abraham1, you will have to send the police to pick all of us. You are very shameless.” Abraham responded by explaining that while she can tolerate personal attacks, she draws the line at threats and defamation involving her children and family.

“You can abuse and call me names; it’s fine, and as I said, I will accept and take it cos I’m in the public eyes, but cursing kids and lying is what I won’t accept, and lastly, I never and will never arrest anyone’s mother. I made a report on cybercrime as a citizen. I made my report at cybercrime cos the threat to life and curse and threat on my family were beyond what I can take, as for me, abuse me, insult me please, say anything to me please,” she replied.

Another Twitter user, Jeffery, alleged that the actress had his mother taken to the police station for something he didn’t do. “It’s one thing to make a tweet, and you arrest me. It’s another thing to arrest me for not even making a single comment, @toyin_abraham1. You picked my mom up from her shop to Panti police station for something I didn’t even do. God will judge you,” he tweeted.

Abraham responded, stating, “Lying on my head comfortably now, the world won’t see this if I react how, they will say something else. I never arrested your mum. Your friend Ayo was arrested for bullying and cursing and defaming my family, and mum went there saying she won’t leave without him.”

A user named Uchenna questioned Abraham about deleting some of her tweets, to which she replied that there was no need to dwell on the matter further.

The situation continues to unfold, highlighting the urgent need for responsible social media use and the serious implications of online harassment.
