Arsenal targeting summer move for Victor Osimhen

Arsenal has emerged as the latest contender in the race to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen this summer. According to reports from Italy, talks are underway with the Napoli forward after Arsenal’s top target, Benjamin Sesko, decided to stay at RB Leipzig by signing a new contract.

The 25-year-old Osimhen has expressed his desire to leave Napoli, with the Premier League being a potential destination. The player’s release clause is set at €160 million, which Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis plans to use to provide substantial funds for new coach Antonio Conte’s summer transfer plans.

Victor Osimhen had a stellar debut season in Serie A, but injuries and a dip in form hampered his progress, contributing to Napoli’s disappointing defense of their Serie A title.

While Chelsea initially showed interest in the Nigerian star, their pursuit cooled after Osimhen received a lucrative offer from a Saudi Arabian club, reportedly exceeding €40 million per season.

Recent reports from Il Roma, via calcionapoli24.it, indicate that last season’s Premier League runners-up, Arsenal, have contacted Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, to discuss a potential move to the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners are exploring the possibility of securing the striker as they look to bolster their attacking options for the upcoming season.
