VIDEO: Nigerian gay man begs his family to stop pressuring him to marry a woman

A Nigerian gay man living in Manchester, United Kingdom, has protested his family’s pressure for him to marry a woman.

The Nigerian gay man who gave his name as Charles, took to social media to share the story of how his mother, aunt and other relatives kept mounting pressure to get married despite knowing his sexuality.

Charles further disclosed that even though his family knows that he is gay, they still pressured him to get married but he resisted.

There have been different thoughts about homosexuality. Some see it as a sexual disorder that requires medical and psychological therapy. Others say it is a stable sexual relationship.

There are 64 countries that have laws that criminalise homosexuality, and nearly half of these are in Africa.

In Nigeria, anyone found to be gay or lesbian, risks spending 14 years in jail.

In Uganda, being a homosexual is a capital crime that carries the death sentence.

In Russia, members of the LGBTQ community have been listed among deadly terrorist and extremist groups like Al Qaeda, ISIS, Boko Haram and many others.
