Former Senator who represented Bayelsa East, Ben Murray-Bruce and ex-Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, have received tackle from Nigerians after visiting the project site of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.

The visit of the two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders coincided with a statement of their party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, repudiating the project.

Atiku had revealed that the project did not follow due process in its award. He also said the company executing the project has Seyi Tinubu as a director. Seyi Tinubu is the first son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

On his X handle, Ben Murray-Bruce hailed the project, saying it is unlike others.

He said: “Today, I visited the Lagos-Calabar coastal road construction site with my good friend, the former governor of Cross River State, H.E Donald Duke. The project is truly magnificent and unlike any other. Upon completion, it will undoubtedly be recognized as one of the greatest infrastructure wonders of our time.”

@Credo_promotion said: “The project that just started is already magnificent. You BEN you got problem and this your vuvuzela for APC Tinubu cos of your business in Lagos won’t pay you.”

@OlorogunErnest said: “Sir, why can’t the government fix the existing highways first before embarking on the massive project. Can you drive smoothly from Lagos to your home town in Bayelsa? I just wanna make common sense.”

@kwerejoe said: “In the event of non-completion, will you call out the initiator? Will you also assess whether there were bidding process and EIA report in compliance with procurement law before the commencement of this wonder of a project? We must instill discipline in the use of public funds.”

@Smartveee said: “N1 trillion could bring back 13 millions out of school children and build 36 world class hospitals in all the states in Nigeria. Think about this.”

@JakesOlasupo said: “You’re doing a PR stunt for a project that has barely started. Anyway, time will tell. A lot of you did more than this for Buhari. At the end of the day – all na scam!”
