Former U.S President Donald Trump has alerted Israel that many of the October 7, 2023 hostages being held by Hamas, may have been killed by the Palestine Islamist group, hence, their reluctance to engage in a fresh cease-fire negotiation.
Hamas has consistently rejected ceasefire proposal by Israel, saying anything short of ending the nearly seven months war was unacceptable.
“We.. reaffirm our adherence to our demands and the national demands of our people; with a permanent ceasefire, the withdrawal of the occupation army from the entire Gaza Strip, the return of the displaced to their areas and places of residence, intensification of the entry of relief and aid, and the start of reconstruction,” the Islamist faction said on April 13.

Trump, writing on his social media platform, Truth Social, said: “Israel will find, very sadly, that there are far fewer hostages than currently being thought. That’s why it’s hard for Hamas to make a deal – They are no longer able to produce the people, because many of them are gone. Hamas is incapable of holding Jewish people for a long period of time without killing them, and it will only get worse! ZERO leadership from Biden. October 7th WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED IF I WERE PRESIDENT – NOT EVEN A SMALL CHANCE!!!”
