Police charge man to court for stealing food, he gets N50k bail

A man identified simply as Ojo has been arraigned in court for stealing fufu, noodles, a pot of soup as well as soup condiments – maggi seasonings, salt, onions – all valued
at N300,000.
Police arraigned Ojo, 20, at the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court on Monday over alleged house breaking and stealing on March 14 at about 12 noon at Falegan, Ilawe Road in Ado-Ekiti.
Police prosecutor Moyosola Adesola, an Inspector of Police, said the offences contravene sections 322 and 302(1) (a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.
Ojo denied the charges and his counsel Olayinka Opaleke urged the court to grant him bail.
Chief Magistrate Taiwo Ajibade granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until April 23 for hearing.
