TheNiche had earlier reported  that the position of Super Eagles head coach became vacant after contract extension talks between former manager, Jose Peseiro and NIgerian Football Federation (NFF) broke down.

After the exit of the Portuguese tactician, there were unconfirmed  reports on social media linking Siasia to his former job.

However, while addressing the innuendos during the chat, the silver medal-winning coach with Nigeria’s Olympic team at the Beijing Olympics denied applying for the job.

According to him, he cannot be in the running for the job, because of his suspension by FIFA.

Speaking on the development, Siasia said: “I did not apply for the Super Eagles coaching job because I know FIFA has yet to lift the suspension on me.

“I don’t know where those who reported that I applied got their story from.

“It’s common sense, I cannot be suspended and be applying for a job.

“I know I would not even be considered for it.”

Siasia was banned after he was found guilty of accepting an offer to receive bribes to alter the outcome of matches.

However, the five-year ban is set to end in August 2024, meaning he cannot work within the sports sector until then.
