Sparta Prague coach, Priske says Liverpool shouldn’t be playing Europa League after 11-2 annihilation

Head coach of Sparta Prague, Brian Priske has praised Liverpool after the English Premier League club defeated his team 6-1 at Anfield in the Europa League round of 16 second leg tie on Thursday night.

The Reds with the result advanced to the quarter finals of the competition on 11-2 aggregate win having won 5-1 in the first leg.

However, despite the annihilation, Priske was gracious in defeat and acknowledged the gulf in class between the two teams.

Speaking after the heavy defeat during his post-match comments, he described Liverpool as a world-class team and praised their quality in both legs of the tie against Sparta.

He went on to assert that Jurgen Klopp’s side should not be competing in the Europa League, but instead should be playing in the Champions League.

He further added that Liverpool are good enough to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, or win the Premier League this year.

Priske said: “We faced a world-class team.

“Big respect to Liverpool, how they played these two legs, how they approached the games, put in the pure quality they have.”

He added: “But Liverpool are a Champions League team and they should be in the Champions League, they will maybe be in the semi-finals, they will maybe be Premier League winners in two months.”
