Shehu Sani says Nigeria’s problem is not from God after seven died while trying to purchase seized rice from Customs

Shehu Sani also claimed Nigeria has “no earthquakes, hurricanes or monsoon” and that it is suitable for growing crops

Human rights activist and former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, has insisted that the current economic hardship being faced by Nigerians is not a punishment from God.

He made this known on Monday on his X-handle, saying the West African country has natural resources that other countries will never have.

His comment comes after an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Comfort Adebanjo, and six others lost their lives while attempting to purchase seized rice put on sale by the Nigerian Customs Service.

The Zonal Office of the Customs Service in Yaba, Lagos, recently discounted 25kg bags of rice and this attracted a moumout crowd, which eventually led to a stampede that claimed the seven lives.

Reacting to the development, Sani said the country’s problem is not from God as there are over 200 rivers in the country with a well nourished arable land of 923,768 kmsq.

The former lawmaker went on to say  Nigeria is blessed with virile men and fertile women more than any other country in Africa.

He further claimed that the country has “no earthquakes, hurricanes or monsoon” and that it is suitable for growing crops.

Speaking via his social media page, Shehu Sani tweeted: “There are over 200 rivers in this country and we have a well nourished arable land of 923,768 kmsq. We have the natural resources that other countries will never have. We have virile men and fertile women more than any other country in our continent.

“We have no earthquakes, hurricanes or monsoon. What can grow in Thailand, Pakistan or Brazil can grow in this country. We want manna. Even the people who received the last plates of manna from Heaven have now turned their Desert Green. Our problem is not from God.”
