Charly Boy aims dig at Tinubu, says Obi ‘was there with fans, not inside bulletproof cabin’

Charly Boy made the statement while hailing 2023 LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi  for attending S’Eagles’ match against Angola

Human rights activist, singer and actor,  Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has aimed a subtle dig at President Bola Tnubu while commending the patriotism of the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi.

TheNiche had earlier reported that the Super Eagles of Nigeria qualified for the semi-final of the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON), on Friday, following a narrow win over Angola.

Obi was at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, where the encounter took place to share the Super Eagles to victory.

Reacting to the former Anambra State governor’s decision to be present at the fans stand during Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Angola on Saturday, Charly Boy, took to his Instagram page to hail him.

According to the veteran singer, the LP candidate was in the stand with Nigerians and not inside “a bulletproof cabin.”

Sharing a clip of Obi at the fans stand during the match, Charly Boy wrote: “Nigeria vs Angola Quarter Finals, he was there live with fans, not inside a bulletproof cabin. 1-0. We move.”

Meanwhile, Obi, has hailed the “patriotism and professionalism” displayed by the Super Eagles in the  victory over Angola in the ongoing AFCON.

Reacting to the win via a post on his X page, he tweeted: “It was truly a delightful and uplifting experience for me today, as I joined other Nigerians to watch Nigeria’s National Team, the Super Eagles, live in Abidjan, Ivory Coast Capital, as they cruised to the semi-final of the ongoing AFCON tournament.

“As always, our dear team, with the strength of an eagle, flew us into the semi-finals, victoriously with a delightful show of patriotism and professionalism. I heartily congratulate our national team, the Super Eagles, for their electrifying performance.”
