Bode George urges Atiku to play ‘big uncle’ to younger politicians, drop presidential ambition

-

Bode George argued that Atiku and other long time politicians like him, would be too old to contest in 2027

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain and former Deputy National Chairman of the party, Bode George, has advised his party’s presidential candidate in the February 25, 2023 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to drop his 2027 presidential ambition.

The former Ondo State Military Governor gave the advice recently, while addressing journalists in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to him, Atiku should play the ‘big uncle’ role to younger politicians, rather than run for presidency in 2027, as he would be too old by then.

Speaking during the press conference, Bode George said:  “My brother Atiku Abubakar was 77 years old last year and by 2027 he will be 81 years.

“Atiku should be in a situation where he plays like the big uncle in the room or the elder in the room.

“What would anybody carry me now to do because I’m heading to 80 years and I want to go and be minister, to do what?

“Let’s mentor the younger generation and let’s be consistent with our strong belief in our party norms.”

He also called on President Bola Tinubu to call a meeting of retired military officers to devise solutions to tackle the current security challenges.
