Gbajabiamila assures beneficiaries will  access “Student Loan” directly

Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to
President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the Student Loan Bill recently signed into law by the president will be free of middlemen.

According to him, the Students’ Loan Application system was being designed in a way that there is no interface between the loan administrators and the beneficiaries.

The former House of Representatives Speaker made this known on Friday while delivering a lecture titled, “Empowering Nigerian Youths in the Present Day Economy” at the 35th convocation ceremony of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) in Lagos. 

He went on to say efforts were underway to ensure Nigerian students can access the loan and “fund their educational aspirations.” from January 2024.

He added that to make the process seamless, “applicants will apply online, be verified online and credited based on the verifiable documents and credentials they submitted.”

Speaking at the event, Gbajabiamila also said, “Nobody will need to know anybody to qualify for these loans so that access to this financing will be genuinely egalitarian.”

President Tinubu upon signing the Student Loan Bill into law recently, assured that no student will drop out of tertiary institutions over inability to pay their fees.

He also promised that his administration would ensure educational institutions get the necessary resources to carry out their responsibilities.
