Uzodimma on Sunday, was declared the winner of the off-cycle election in Imo State by INEC

The governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma has asked the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded off-season election, Samuel Anyanwu, his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Athan Achonu and other contestants to join him in building the state.
He extended the olive branch to them during a state broadcast on Monday afternoon, where he claimed his opponents did not lose, but rather, the people of the state that won.
Uzodimma who won with a landslide margin against Anyanwu, Achonu and others while giving his acceptance speech after the National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner of the election, said his victory on Saturday was from God.

The former senator went further to claim that God was also responsible for his first-term victory.
Uzodimma said: “By the glory of God, yesterday, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared me the winner of the election. Since it has pleased God and Imo people to confer that honour on me, I congratulate and commiserate with my brothers who contested with me… in a democratic contest like the one on Saturday, only one person will emerge victorious,”
He added: “They did not lose. I, therefore, call on all of them to come and join hands with me to build the Imo of their collective dreams…”
